ups and downs!

Hello again it's me Mel,

Just recorded another Halenhagui vlog! I complained about how tired I was, and we both talked about our ups and downs.  Since I'm so tired, my brain is functioning at turtle speed.  I figured out that I left out so much.  Aside from right now, dealing with being sick and all.  I have to say one of my worst downs was in my 2008-09 season.  FACE PLANT, of my figure skating career. Let me tell you more about it, 2007-08 I broke top 8 at the US Championships, 2 solid programs, I was the alternate for 4 Continents, Worlds and Jr. Worlds. Very Bittersweet.  Then the next season I was given Junior Grand Prix, Italy, and came home with the Gold Medal. I soaked it all up and I guess I thought I won the Olympics. I had several celebratory meals and I was large and in charge for Belarus.  Threw everything away and ended up 18th. OUCH! I ran to my best friend, mr.refrigerator for comfort and he gave me no justice for Sectionals that year. I was flat out not in shape and I didn't make it to nationals, I was so heart broken.  Then and there I learned the hard way to be very humble about the small little victories that happen, and not to sulk.

This blog is ready for kickoff

Hi Mel here,

First of all I want to tell you a little about myself.  I started skating when I was 6 years old in Penns Landing Philadelphia, PA, not knowing what I was getting into.  I just wanted to be faster than my big brother Ed.  Two years later I found myself in the spotlight competing to earn my first Gold Medal in No Test Girls with my wonderful bunny hops.  (It didn't happen...stage fright happened...therefore I didn't even make the podium..)  But my parents saw something in those bunny hops that probably no else saw and moved me to the University of Delaware to train (I needed all the help I could get).  I have been training at UD since I was 8 years old.  I moved on from bunny hops to some triples and have been competing internationally and nationally for the past few years now.  Sometimes my life can be pretty exciting and interesting. I want to share it all with you, from the smiles and tears! Hopefully with this blog you can meet some of our closest friends and kinda let you know about the lives around us. In this blog, Haley and I wanted to let you guys get involved and let you in the inside scoop. Tell us what you think we will talk about everything and anything.  I just want to have fun with this, and hopefully I will get over this awkward camera stage.  ;)  Oh, and I'm excited about our next blog it's going to be all about Haley! ((She doesn't know about this yet))
